Q |
How does the Flower
District fit into L A's "Fashion District"? |
| A |
The Fashion District Business Improvement District
(BID) encompasses a 95-block area of what has traditionally been
called the garment district and wholesale district. The Flower
District is a resident of that area along with the textile, fashion,
jewelry and produce wholesale markets and other businesses and, in
recent years, many downtown residential buildings and loft
apartments. Security and street maintenance services are some of the
benefits of residing in the Fashion District. |

Q |
Do many people visit
the Los Angeles Flower District? |
| A |
Every year, more than 250,000 members of the
general public visit the Flower District. In addition, some 45,000
or more visits are made by LAFD badge members. Over the years, our
visitors have included Los Angeles mayors, movie stars, tour groups,
journalists, photography students, area legislators and other
dignitaries and celebrities. But the most important visitors are our
retail florists, decorators, planners and the general public, all of
whom find extraordinary prices and excellent quality in the fresh
flowers and greens at the District. |
|
Q |
What are the busiest
days at the Flower District? |
| A |
Wednesdays and Fridays, when retail florists and
event planners stock up for their weekend orders and events. |
|
Q |
What's the parking
situation in the area? |
| A |
Street parking is available, and there is usually
plenty of parking space on the two garage parking levels accessible
from the entrances on Maple and San Julian streets. |
|

Q |
Does the District
publish a newsletter or have a mailing list I can subscribe to? |
| A |
The Los Angeles Flower Market, one of the two major
markets in the District, publishes The Bloomin' News, which has been
almost continuously published since 1949. It's a great way to stay
informed about happenings in the local and national flower industry. |
